Northern Star, Cloudy Nights and Flight of the Bee

12 May

After several weeks of cloudy nights and miserable weather, last night the clouds parted slightly offering a glimpse of an incredibly bright star to the north. I managed to get a decent amount of viewing in, but unfortunately the night clouded over again before I could get my camera connected. No sign of the moon last night though, which was a bit disappointing. Still, there’ll be other nights!

I have been taking regular photos of my parents garden to go on their blog, A Year In Our Garden. While taking snaps of an auricula earlier today, a honeybee bumbled into view. My favourite shot is shown below, with the bee caught hopping between flowers.

I also got this nice shot of Mr Tom, the stray cat who took up residence at the end of last year.
